I was at a dinner party on Saturday night and during a conversation, another guest became aware that I work as a financial advisor. Upon hearing this information he asked, “What company do you work for?”
This is a reasonable question since all manner of financial product companies spend heavily on advertising. But the simple answer is I don’t work for an investment or insurance company.
I do have strategic partnerships with companies and organizations that I utilize to deliver critical services to our clients. Other organizations deliver critical services to me. Some do both.
But these are service provider relationships rather than an employer-employee relationship. The benefit is that I can collaborate with clients without the backdrop of a larger corporate agenda.
An incredibly wise man once said that you cannot serve two masters. The business structure we have established focuses on keeping the interests of the client front and center.
